Halliburton already is selling off its shares of KBR. But I doubt that will do much to enhance the image of Halliburton.

In the eyes of investors and analysts it would do a fair amount of good. I'd invest in Halliburton if they would spin off KBR.

Perhaps but the Halliburton name is tied to the Vice President. KBR on the other hand isnt so well known. Of course someone who takes the time to research the company and wants to invest will look past that.

If you wanted a good stock to buy Force Protection Inc. would have been a good one. Its cooling off now but its still solid.

But whenever KBR fucks up, intentionally or not, Halliburtion is mentioned primarily. Halliburton hasn't had a serious scandal outside of KBR for quite sometime. The news ALWAYS says Halliburtion when KBR rips someone off.

Halliburtion would be so much better off spinning off KBR.

America lost in vietnam- DEAL WITH IT!!!!! I have studied the war from every angle in every history lesson i have had for the past 3 years. You lost for a variety of reasons
1. the vietnamese knew the terrain and were to hide
2. the ambushes were more effective
3. the vietnamese would only fight a full scale battle if they were sure they could win
4. world opinion turned against america due to the inhumane tactics(agent orange, napalm and search and destroy) used

though in americas favor they were more tecnically advanced.

The war in iraq is similar to the war in vietnam- both side are fighting a losing battle.

Too bad this thread is about Iraq and not Vietnam, but annoying spammers such as yourself wouldn't know the differance.

I am merely extending the point made earlier in this argument about the iraq war being similar to the vietnam in that the iraqi tactics have undermined the american military just as the vietnamese did. But I wouldn't expect you to have thought about that eh?

...too many arm chair warriors...too little experiance...
Filipinos do not get paid $5.00 a day. In their home country, median daily rate is currently around $4.20 a day.
In Iraq, the minimum they make is $36.60 per day. Minimum. I used to sign off on their timesheets with PPI. Thats just under 9 TIMES what they would make back home.
I'm an expat and even I don't get 9 Times my former stateside wage. I dont even get 4 times.
Halliburton spun of KBR already--their 82% oownership is limited to owning shares as investment and they only control it as much as those shares carry votes for the board. But yea, they can still theoretically run the company. That, however, whould just contiunue to be a PR nightmare and I can tell you that KBR is always sending us these new re-branding kits.
one parting thought thou...90% of the negative info in the media about us is untrue...the 10 percent that is true has been mixed with rumor and what not. bigest lie: LOGCAP was NOT a no-bid contract. The RIO contract was....and has long since been cancelled and given directly to KBR's competators (who had to hire KBR people because they werent qualified to do it themselves). LOGCAP was openly and publicly put out for bid before the war was ever being built-up.

According to Bush- we won the war October 2003.
So I don’t know why we are still there.

Now we wouldn't want little pea brains to ever have a clue as to what that banner was making referance to now would we?

Why have any clue as to the truth when you can spout off lies and propaganda?

You have to admit it was probably the lamest PR stunt in recent history by a US president aside from the "I didn't have sex with that woman" thing. The difference of course is that Bush's PR fiasco still affects us today, while Clinton's personal PR fiasco was his own.

well, their guerilla tactics are cowardice.

My god are you serious? Guerilla warfare is a good tactic, think 1776 jackass. Anyway the only way to fight guerillas (especialy those kinds) is to beat them at their own game, use our tech. in less of a conventional sence and begin instegating "Pod Warfare" (common for some special ops.) to hunt and destroy them as small specialized groups who are supported by other independent but quordinated forces. That or Total War... I like the second a little more. Burn the bastards to the ground and fuck the "ethics" of war. I understand war is politics but has anyone noticed that every time america has instigated total war (exept vietnam, that was because of pussies back home. and yes we could have won that, by the end it was old men and young boys coming down the ho chi min trail.) we have won. and i overall disagree with the article... sounds like a bunch of leftist bullshit to me.

guerilla tactics? cowardice? its a legitimate strategy. they obviously wont win if they fight us straight on, so what the hell else are they going to do? give up? and regardless of whether its cowardice or not, theyre doing it and we cant just tell them to stop. in any case, i agree with deadeye.

Seriously, find out what the banner was even referring to.

You mean this?

White House spokesman Scott McClellan told CNN that in preparing for the speech, Navy officials on the carrier told Bush aides they wanted a "Mission Accomplished" banner, and the White House agreed to create it.

"We took care of the production of it," McClellan said. "We have people to do those things. But the Navy actually put it up."

"The banner was a Navy idea, the ship's idea," Chun said.

"The banner signified the successful completion of the ship's deployment," he said, noting the Abraham Lincoln was deployed 290 days, longer than any other nuclear-powered aircraft carrier in history.

Sure. The banner referred to something else. But you have to admit having Bush in full flight suit with that banner behind and his speech to go with that was not the wisest thing to do if he did not want it to be taken in any other way than at face value.

Admiral Kelly, Captain Card, officers and sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln, my fellow Americans, major combat operations in Iraq have ended. In the battle of Iraq, the United States and our allies have prevailed.

And now our coalition is engaged in securing and reconstructing that country.

In this battle, we have fought for the cause of liberty and for the peace of the world. Our nation and our coalition are proud of this accomplishment, yet it is you, the members of the United States military, who achieved it. Your courage, your willingness to face danger for your country and for each other made this day possible.

Because of you our nation is more secure. Because of you the tyrant has fallen and Iraq is free.

Operation Iraqi Freedom was carried out with a combination of precision and speed and boldness the enemy did not expect and the world had not seen before.

From distant bases or ships at sea, we sent planes and missiles that could destroy an enemy division or strike a single bunker. Marines and soldiers charged to Baghdad across 350 miles of hostile ground in one of the swiftest advances of heavy arms in history.

And tonight, I have a special word for Secretary Rumsfeld, for General Franks and for all the men and women who wear the uniform of the United States: America is grateful for a job well done.

In a world where pictures say a thousand words allowing that banner together with Bush as pilot and his own speech was a pretty huge PR snafu.
