The only way i know how to overcome my shyness is to be funny. It seems to work fairly well and although at first i was really shy with this girl i met, i have really opened up because of my humor. try it out, it may work for you. just dont try to hard thinking up things...and dont just rush and say the first thing that come to your head. I always seem to find funny and witty comments about anything.

i'm really really shy but the few guys i've ended up forcing myself to talk to/was forced to talk ended up liking me. but i always have masked myself and i think i really have become my mask now so thanks to ur post ((whic was incredible AWESOME!!!)) i'm trying to find the real me and have decided i dont give a funk what others think of me and i'm just going to be who i am and talk to anyone i feel like. i dont know...that just makes sense to me. thanks for the post:-)

oh and i skimmed some of the other replies, and so: to everyone talking about not being able to ask out a guy or girl...try ur best to just talk to them and become friends with them first cuz honestly i promise they will not bite ur head off!!! then take it from there.

Yea I too am on the boat of shyness. When I try to go up to the pretty girls my heart is racing. But since I am going to high school (yay), I think I need to make a new name for myself (I am the only one from my old school). So I am trying to get involved in meet people that are in the same things as me. But so far after I get of that first hill of nervousness, its pretty much smooth sailing. As for girls, well I am scared of em lol, but I guess I need to think of my self as the big homefry.

I'd just like to say that what you said is extremely true. But an important point should be that you be not only confident but sexually confident as well...

And the whole thing about women knowing when you're in a relationship. It works with the whole confidence thing.

If you're in a relationship and you're not just a big player, when you talk to other women you're more confident because you're not interested in another woman.

I've always beleived confidence is wayyy more than 50% of the attraction.

I've read up on shyness/social anxiety disorder before in attempts to find an enlightened point of view that would give me perspective on my shyness... However until I read this post, all I have found was psychological, ambiguous garbage that doesn't help anyone.

This is the best advice I've ever read on shyness on the internet.

well let me tell u, having a big dick isnt that great either. I mean when u have to tie it in a bow just to keep it from hanging out of ur shorts u know u have a problem..... :(

now on a serious note i think these tips and experiences that people are sharing are very helpful to many. Im trying to make me talk to random people (not in school). im having trouble but im gonna do it. guess i should start slow.

welp id just like to say keep up the tips and experiences cause its nice to read success stories and tips.

unless you gradually started talking to them over a period of time. But yeah, a sudden onslaught of comments from the middle of nowhere might seem a bit unusual.

Start off small and then gradually increase, like saying hi everyday to the girl you have a crush on or like. It worked for me it helped me ovecome shyness. Know i can have conversations with the girl i have a crush on when at first i was too shy to say anything.
