well in a way i think being shy is an illness, as it limits the social interaction that you will have, which is why i am VERY happy to have broken the barrier, and i applaud any who try or have also done it. keep it up.

Personally, I think that's bad advice. I HATE people who walk around, thinking about how cool they are. Telling yourself how wonderful you would probably increase confidence, but now you're on the road to becoming one of those, nasty, self-absorbed, egocentrical people. My advice would be: Just be yourself, there's no way you're ever going to be friends with everybody, so make friends with a few people like you. I know a lot of people who think that they're wonderful, they think that they're friends with the entire grade, however, once they deflate their heads a bit, they'll realize that many people intensely dislike them.

when i was younger i was also shy i couldn't speck to any new people male or female. But once i finished school i got a part time job and that has really helpful. A nother thing that you could do that i did as well try not to care about what other people think of you to a point but dont go to far. And also do what you wont not what others what you to do. i us to try and fit in with the crowd but now i stand out and i have made loads more friends this way.

wow: what a powerful post. so many people including myself are victoms of shyness. i dunno if there's really anything a person can do except try hard to be accepted for who you are by the other person. i have such trouble with that. i can't even go up to a guy and talk to him if i dont know him! i just can't. it's soooo lame, i know! :(

i think everyone is shy sometime i thought i had over come the shyness thing but today this girls started flirting with me and i just didnt now what to say to her it was so werid i talk to all her mates and i can talk to other people flirting with me but for some reason i just doid now what to say to her.
