I gain greater understanding and peace from trusting in Jesus.

I breathe easier and enjoy life more when I know what there is someone watching over me always.  It's comforting and empowering.

Faith is very important to me.  It is priceless, certainly not worthless.

Come to Jesus, Sing to Jesus, Fall on Jesus, Cry to Jesus, Dance for Jesus, Fly to Jesus and live forever in his kingdom.  Listen to Untitled Hymn on YouTube.  It's beautiful.  :)

Your argument is flawed. Just because you feel you have such an encompassing understanding of the entirety of our existence doesn't mean you do. The legitimacy of a God, in whatever sense it may exist, is something that many people much more intelligent and objective than you could ever disprove or prove.

The idea of God for the sake of the existence of a God may not be useful to you, but it does present a possible explanation for the existence of ourselves as we are today. Sure religion is deeply flawed, but the possibility of a God is something you have no ability to disprove.

Nothing unfortunate has happened to me after all of the "sinful" things I've done. You should really read "The God Delusion" by Richard Dawkins.

Revisit what? The argument that doesn't exist because you feel you have such a powerful understanding that there is no God, and therefore you are using your word much in the way that religious zealot's use the purported word of God?

Yes, but you wouldn't know this based on the OP.

I'm not saying there is a God that will strike you down. I'm saying that the possibility of an organizing force is completely possible and impossible to disprove.

Just because you don't gain the inner calm and peace of mind (and other things besides), it doesn't by ANY means mean that other people don't.

barf. i'm reading "breaking the spell" by dan dennett and its a far better approach to religion than "the god delusion" will ever be.

None whatsoever.

Even if by some objective standard, we intuitively knew there was a God that never presented evidence of his existence, I'd still find it convenient to not do imposed garbage in my free time.

I've said it a billion times. There's more to be gained from being immoral (with relation to social norms). This isn't a premise, merely a fact of life.

God = Santa Claus for retarded adults.

So are you basing this on conversations with people who have faith in God and actual observances of their lives or just on your own assumptions based on your own desire to make yourself look better and justify your own lack of belief?

Wouldn't that have required him to actually think into the situation that farther than shallow prejudice?
