It saddens me to hear about how ignorant we are towards the rest of the world, and how bad our education system is. Fact is most of what it said, is true.

do you know what and were wales is?
Yes I know a lot about wales. It is a country west of England. A lot of hills, Cardiff is a major city. Welsh is the language but English is more commonly spoken. It is part of the United Kingdom that includes Scotland and England. Impressed? Now tell me about Bulgaria, haha. What is the capital?
Republic of Bulgaria ocated in Southeastern Europe, bordering five other countries: Romania to the north , Serbia and the Republic of Macedonia to the west, and Greece and Turkey to the south. The Black Sea defines the extent of the country to the east. it's capital is Sofia. and Cadif is the Capital of Wales Post edited at 2:40 pm on May 11, 2008 by King kong

My whole community is pretty educated. There are people all over the world who are very uneducated, and therefore, ignorant. Not just Americans.
I wouldn't say being uneducated = being ignorant. There are lot of people, both in this country and not, whose situations completely prevent them from having any legitimate motive to learn about the outside world. But yeah, if our education system was better, and the gov't wasn't spending so much on war and jails instead of education, Im sure our population would be a lot more respectable in the international community. Unfortunately, I think a lot of them are. It isn't their fault, it's their society's fault. The culture places less emphasis on educating and motivating their children, and more on material goods, entertainment and working to get material goods. This is evident by the fact that there's so little government funding for schooling, when the military is blown way out of proportion, criminal corporations are basically given free reign because they FUND the government, and the gap between the poor and wealthy gets wider by the year. They don't WANT their kids to be educated, because if they're educated, maybe, JUST MAYBE, they might have the sense not to continue to bow to their corporate masters.

Are Americans stupid? I don't know. But a lot of Americans have very, very poor geographical knowledge. Not saying all. For example there are Americans who think Europe is a country or who don't know where France and Italy is. This is ridiculous! And many Americans are ignorant of the rest of the world. And the geography taught in the us is laughable. For example how many Americans know where or what Bulgaria is? It's the dumbing down of America. America's education system needs to improve and to better educate her citizins.
America has over 50 capitals.....how many from europe could name all of them
