Maybe that was the straw that broke the camel's back, as they say. The kid was 13, she can't have had any real idea of what she was doing.

I agree completely. The girl was probably very upset beforehand and noone was listening her. This just might've been the final straw.

All thirteen-year-olds are upset. Whether or not this was the final straw does not matter. The girl killed herself because her parents said "No, you can't sleep over your friends' house."

So exeed, who are you? The girl's parents?

How are you so sure that she didn't have other problems in her life? I mean, you obviously are 100% sure. Is your info based on the articles? They deffinately didn't discuss anything in her life other than what happened the night she killed herself and that she was emo. How do you know for -oh-so-sure that there wasn't anything else going on?

Also, chill. What's up with all the anger and hate? Underwear too tight tonight?

Who's angry and hating? I'm just pointing out that this kid doesn't deserve sympathy. She obviously lived a fairly decent life, with people who cared enough about her to notice when she started cutting herself to be "cool" and "emo," so there was definitely no good reason for her to go and hang herself, and if better reasons emerge, I'm sure the newspapers will start talking about them.

Frankly, emo kids really need to be taken out of their upper-middle class suburban homes and away from their parents who spend thousands annually on their Hot Topic clothes and MCR CDs and sent to Ethiopia or Tibet, so they can learn what it's like to actually have a difficult life.

Again with the know-it-all attitude.

I myself dislike trends because people get too caught up in them and the gears of vanity start rolling.
It's good to look decent and cute, but when you spend hours on it everyday, it's rediculous.

But you still don't know, and that's the point.

I myself started cutting (not emo) when I was about 14. Depression. It just happens sometimes when people start thinking too much. Maybe that girl chose to follow the trend AFTER having negative feelings? Do you know that? You don't.

Point still is, stop judging. YOU DON'T KNOW.

A good life isn't only about how much money you have or how much you have to eat.

And if you studied the pyramid of human needs, you'll realize that it's human nature to start needing mental solutions when all other survival means exist.

Again I say: if there was something else going on in her life, I'll start believing it when it's posted. Until then, she's a dumb kid who got caught up in a trend and couldn't stand not being spoiled for two seconds of her life. Poor. Fucking. Baby.

So you admit you're just an airhead who'll believe whatever's thrown at you as the one and only truth?

Noone knows what her life was or wasn't, because the only person who knew is dead. So I don't see the need to be judgemental (one of the worst habits)

News flash: The media always categorizes things into white and black, and only speak in mainstream, controversial language. They will tell you EMO, CUTTING, TRENDS, SUICIDE- end of story.

Obviously people like you buy it as the devine truth.

Good to know.

Look. Like it or not, 13 year  olds aren't stupid enough to try and kill themselves just over a band, or some music. If you work on the basis that people receive no understanding or empathy unless they earn it, I'm sure as hell glad that you aren't one of my friends. I bet you can count the kids who told their parents the real reason for their self harm on one hand, so why does it suddenly gain any weight in your opinion what the parents were told by her.

The fact of the matter is that she took her own life. Something must have made her so unhappy as to do so, and I don't believe that its fair just to attribute this to a popular culture. Lord, if being emo meant you were going to kill yourself, half my college would be dead. Something else was happening in that girls head, not just the glamorisation of unhappiness and self harm by a pop culture band.

And no matter what happened or not, it's always sad that a 13 year old dies.

Maybe she was naiive, maybe there was more to it.

I sympathise with her and her family.

And I think your "ZOMG SHE'S A STUPID BRAT SHE DESERVED IT- NO SYMPATHY!!!!!!!!!" attitude is quite mental. I hope you rethink your position.

Not to mention, it dosen't sound christian, since it dosen't feel right.

I never said it was because she was emo. I said it was because she was stupid.

I remember what it was like being thirteen, and I remember being upset enough to kill myself. Do you know why I was upset enough to kill myself?

Because my parents made me do my homework.

Because my parents wouldn't buy me the CD I wanted.

Because I didn't like my little brother.

Because the cute boy at church was dating someone who wasn't me.

Frankly, it's stupidity, and someone who actually took her life because of one of those reasons (which she did: reading the article, her decision to storm up to her room and play Russian Roulette with a necktie was inspired by her parents saying that she couldn't sleep over at a friend's house) is doing the gene pool a favor. Do I feel bad for her parents? Absolutely. But any teenager who lets that kind of stupid angst result in them killing themselves really deserves absolutely no sympathy.

I never said that it wasn't sad that she died. I said that I don't feel sorry for her. There's a difference. Why should I feel sorry for someone who clearly had a pretty decent life and chose to throw it away because she didn't get what she wanted? No. Sorry, but I'm not going to sympathize with a stupid spoiled brat.

I would also like to point out that "it doesn't sound Christian, since it doesn't feel right" may be the stupidest statement in this entire thread.
