I went to Catholic school my entire life and I'm now 20 years old. I know certain things about the Church's teachings, but not all or perfectly. I have been 'hearing' things that the current Pope is becoming more tolerant or lenient about contraception (that is, condoms) to Prevent AIDS in certain countries. Someone mentioned that masturbation is not considered a sin in the Catholic Church anymore, but I don't believe that. I can't find any articles about it. Perhaps the Church is modernizing and it's about time.

Yes, the catholic church is starting to modernize because the world forces the change up on it. Scripture has lost against science and the modern world, and they are doing all in their power to hold on. It is a loosing battle.
