It's not a tell-all, but age does somewhat correspond with the maturity level and the ability to work with another in a serious, good relationship. As mature and capable as many believe they are, they're likely not. When you're immature, your thought processes and ability to control emotions are not there, and that affects your ability to both be with someone who is at the same level and someone who has grown past that. If age didn't matter, there'd be no difference between 13 year olds in a relationship and 30 year olds. As much as we may not want to accept it, it's the truth and we can all see that there's a difference.

Here's something to think about. When you're in high school, what do you know other than what's around you? If you're caught up with who's popular and gossip in another clique, you're too young. What happens when you two go to college? College experiences spawn much growth and are very different depending on where one is. Add to that, working. The environments contrast enormously and you two have to be growing together in the same, parallel direction while being compatible. There's a reason most high school relationships don't last, they're not any different from your relationship even if you'd like to believe they are.

Put it this way, if you celebrate month anniversaries, you're way too young! Getting past 30 day increments is not a feat, it's 365 over and over and over again.
