I was wondering. They say Dean Koontz, and Stephen King, are "the masters of horror". Yet, I have to disagree, I believe Stephen will always hold that title.

Above, you see both names, I want to know..In your opinion, who is the best?

Optional: Why? And favourite book?

[: I have to say, that Stephen King is far better than Dean Koontz. I have read both, and I found Dean put too much detail into his books, making it tedious. Yet, Stephen doesn't. I, myself, am a King fan.

Also, to support this, Stephen has had many of his books turned into films. A few:

'Salem's Lot
Carrie
The Shinning
Christine
IT
Misery
The Tommyknockers
The Mist

Yet, Dean hasn't had any? Why doesn't Dean have as many film adaptations than Stephen? Dean obviously has a great imagination, and, in his books, enough detail to actually turn one into a film.

So it's up to you [:

Who do you think is the best?

Well, I can't decide, but in a way it feels like Koontz is just copying a lot of King's style.

The reason for why there aren't that many (or any) movies made from his work, is because it hasn't been in the media for as long.

Stand By Me was by far the best thing to come out of a Stephen King story.

That has nothing to do with horror. Sorry.

Stephen King will ALWAYS be the master of horror. I don't even like his writing style, but that title shall forever belong to him.

That's a hard one because, in my opinion, they are both really good. Though if I had to honestly pick I'd say Stephen King.
