perhaps the most important thing is making sure you give her a reason to want to call you or to want to have you call her which means making sure that, however you decide to approach her, you make sure that you come off as charismatic, CONFIDENT, outgoing, funny, etc. basically, make sure you come off as someone that she would enjoy the company of. and don't try to push it; if you get the feeling that she wouldn't feel comfortable with giving you her number (which she probably won't the first time you approach her), don't try to force it, you know? but, trust me if no one else, the only hard part about this whole thing is working up the courage to talk to them

Have you ever dated before? Usually it's good to reach a level of familiarity with her.. develop some pretext. That way, you'll have more things to talk about. Be like, "oh, next time I see you I should get you that cd of this band I want you to hear" or something. doing something like the above is good, because it does three things. One, it shows you expressing an interest in something you both like. Two, it means you're preparing something for her when you aren't in her company... in other words, it shows her you think of her. And three, it gives you an excuse to talk to her again!!
