ok.. so i got my cell phone bill today.
my sister and i have a family share plan together, but it's under my name. we agreed to split it evenly down the middle... but looking at the bill, she downloaded fifty freaking bucks worth of ringtones. who even needs that many ringtones??
it wouldn't have been a big deal if it was just one or two. but when i told her that she was paying for the full fifty for the tones... she got all mad because we had agreed to split it evenly.
now, i realize that half of fifty is only $25, but it's the principle of the matter. i don't think that i should have to pay for her ringtones. when i put her on my plan, i was under the impression that it was understood that she would have to pay for all her own downloads. but i did say that we'd split the bill..
it's going to cost me $150 to shut off her phone and remove her from my plan, which i can't afford. she needs a phone and she's my sister, so i don't want to take her off my plan... but i'm really mad about being forced to pay for all those damn downloads!
which i will be, because she knows it's my name on the plan, so i'm ultimately responsible for the bill!
grrrr!
what would you guys do?

I would be furious at her and have dreams where I swore and screamed at her until she gave in, whilst feeling rather helpless in real life...

Maybe, since it's only $25, you could sit her down and tell her that's a HUGE amount of money to spend on ringtones that you don't need, and that that sort of thing was not included in your agreement to split the bill. If she CAN'T pay it, you will pay the half this time, but in future she's responsible for any downloads.

I wouldn't agree to split a bill down the middle anyway I think, unless I knew the other person wasn't going to use the phone any more than I did.

Try to reason with her but I wouldn't expect too much from a younger sibling *eyeroll*

she's only thirteen months younger than me, so we're practically the same age...
i didn't expect her to do this sort of thing. i mean, she's not the most responsible person in the world... but she's not stupid either.
i think that she knew full well that i'd expect her to pay for her tones, but that i had said that we would split the bill and she could hold me to my word.
she's being manipulative, and that's why i'm so freaking mad.

Pay the money first so you don't get penalized.

THEN sue her in small claims court.
I suggest going for the max $5k for time wasted and emotional damage, etc. This obviously scarred you deeply, now you're less inclined to trust people.

No need for lawyers there... So shouldn't be much expenses;)

anyways... If I was in that situation, that's what I'll do, hahaha!

You should have thought earyler sorry - although she is not right!
But why whould she want do DL ringtones you can get thousands from the net and put them on you mobile.....
Anyway try to remove her from you plan.
