Why don't you try Avast 4.8, in addition with spybot and activate teatimer, then install iolo system mechanic's systemguard. I have had ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. LOL. and add threatfire.

I'm a fan of AVG 8.0 personally, especially since they now include a link scanner so no more going on dodgey sites while searching through google =]
