How rich he is for a start, as the cost of going to Pairs might not be that much to him so he may not realise what a major thing it is.
Also maybe he thinks that you're relationship is moving pretty fast, and he thinks you're ready to go away together. I mean it does sound a little soon, but hey some people marry that quick into a relationship so it just depends how serious you are.
