Will you tell your children that Santa is real?

(Sorry to anyone who doesn't know yet, but I won't perpetuate the lie.)

No. I'm not telling them things like that. Though I'm not raising my kids to believe in a lot of things (most of which will be their choice to believe in when they are older, but as far as I go, they won't 'learn' that many things are real).

I just see no reason to teach them that a big guy in the sky is bringing them presents, when really, I'm the one busting my ass and wallet putting Christmas together to put a smile on their faces.

Yes, only because I wouldn't want them telling the other kids that do believe that he isn't real and scaring them.

Scaring them?  What's scarier than knowing that, any time he wants, a flying fat man in a red jumpsuit can break into your house and raid your fridge?

My wife and I don't do presents at Christmas, so our kid will never believe in Santa.

I don't think so, I'll tell them stories but make sure they know Santa's not real. I'll give them presents and we'll have a tree, but I don't like the idea of misleading the children. They can still enjoy the time and have fun without believing in Santa. Though I'm sure I'll discuss it with my future wife once we have kids.

I want my kids to be realist but I should instill some type of dream into them so yes they will believe in Santa the Tooth Fairy Easter Bunny all the works.

Exactly. I don't see how not believing in Santa is scary, when a child is supposed to feel safe in their own home, but they are also supposed to believe that a huge fatass can get through their non-existent chimney whenever he feels like it to deliver presents.

And steal their cookies.  Don't forget that.  Without Santa, they still get presents, but they also get to keep their cookies.

Yes, they will. It's part of being a child, really. I like it, if only for the reason of carrying on a family tradition really.

I didn't have a chimney. I thought Santa shrunk and fit through the keyhole. :/
