This is hypothetically.  Say you somehow got into some crap and had your choice.  No other options...you either spend the rest of your life in prison or you could have it ended early by choosing the death penalty.  Which would it be?  

I added a 3rd choice for suicide because that's what some folks would do.  

Also, if you chose life would plan out an escape during your "life sentence?"

Life. I might eventually kill myself, but I'd probably take out a buncha creeps when I do. I'd most likely try to escape and live in the mountains or move to another country like Canada, learn another language, and go to another country.

I'd choose the death penalty, but I would never kill myself.  

The ONLY reason I would choose life would be to see if I could ever escape.  This would include trying to stay out of trouble, always being respectful and non-threatening to staff, and being "very religious" while locked up.  I would keep the bible in my face most of the time and attend all bible studies.  I would try to gain the status of trustee so I wouldn't be supervised by the guards all the time and allowed to roam free (albeit still behind bars or the fence and razor wire).  And if I got caught, I'd be plotting my next escape which might take years to attempt.
