I know you've got to do the opposite in an equation, so a fraction would have to be multiplied. But multiplied by what? Can someone walk me through how to do them? Here are two examples: e/-4+8 < 1 t+3/2 < -8 I can do linear equations, but when the fractions are in there, I get stumped. I forget what to do with them. I CAME.
I SAW. (and lol'd)
I CONQUERED I assume you mean e/-4 + 8 < 1 rather than e/(-4+8) < 1 ... so take 8 from both sides e/-4 < -7 multiply both sides by -4 (remembering the inequality swaps when multiplying by a negative number) e > 28 et voila...

Thanks... I remembered that when a fraction's in an equation, it must be multitplied. But I didn't remember by what. Now I know for sure it's the denominator. I think I've got it now (hopefully, since the test is on Tuesday). Quote: from Blue Baby at 7:46 pm on Oct. 10, 2008
please put parentheses
There weren't any parantheses in the problem as the way it was in the book. I copied it down the way it was written.

Yeah, they may not have but they are most likely written in a different way. Example: Is that e ---- + 8 < 1 ----> (e/-4)+8 < 1 -4 or e ------- < 1 ? -----> e/(-4+8) < 1 -4 + 8 Post edited at 8:23 pm on Oct. 12, 2008 by Blue Baby
