How long before you actually see the change? It could really vary. After I started exercising more for a week or two, my boyfriend and mom said that they thought I had slimmed down just a bit (though the scale said I was the same weight). So I personally have only really noticed it by the fact that some of my clothes fit just a bit differently. And that took me about 3-4 weeks to notice.

Not necessarily, it depends on the person. Anyways, one can be skinny, but not toned.

my bro n law lost 7 lbs in 1 night for the army. he wore sweatclothes n one of those silver suits to bed n he didnt eat or drink. a lil drastic but it was important to him. i wouldnt say go that far i was afraid hed dehydrate.
