I listen to every kind of music and yes rap does have a meaning, some songs are stupid i know, but its a way to express yourself. Some ppl write poems, some ppl have a diary, others have a blog on the internet, well rappers have raps to clear their mind and get shit off their chest. Some rappers do try to make themselves look good by sayin theyve been shot and stuff, but some rappers did really have a tough life. So thats why i respect them, the rap nd toehr kind of music.

Just because you don't like it does not mean it doesn't have a point. A lot of rappers use it as therapy. It's a form of expression.
Yes some rappers do it just for money but not all do.
I prefer no type of music over the other.

wow you obviously know NOTHING about rap. did you know that it's a CULTURE? not just a music genre. rap was created so the early Latinos and African Americans could pass messages to one another using beats, it's the whole "love of music" thing. and rap wasn't originally all about sex, abusing women, and drugs. it was about making a difference and trying to minimize racism. maybe you should research before you open your mouth, no offense :)

I can show you quite a few songs that aren't about those things.

You're completely wrong. Typically, I wouldn't say that but because you're anon: YOU'RE WRONG. Ack.

Rock and Rap came from the same basics of Rhythm and Blues and Rock and Roll(Not the modern rock genre). Same era, just different elements have been used to make genres. So, no, rock is not the foundation of music.

On behalf of rap music, not all of it is about sex, drugs, and other explicit things. Yes, mainstream rap is. But you're generalizing the whole rap genre. Go listen to some Motion Man and tell me if you don't like it.

LOTS of rock songs mention drugs, sex, violence, ect. Especially heavy metal. Lots of rockers just do it for the money.

I'd rather listen to rock.

Rock the foundation of music?

Blues and Jazz were the foundation of both Rock and Hip-Hop. Slavery was the foundation for Blues >_<

So slavery was the foundation for Rock. How does that make you fell HUH?

I'd probably rather listen to rock. But Rock has alot of people that just do it for the money or that sing about sex and women and drugs.

The Beatles had a couple of songs about money and sex and drugs, and John Lennon said his whole goal in life was to just get rich and famous.
