I think Eric Clapton is highly over-rated.

He was considered like, the bluesy virtuoso guitarist before Hendrix showed up.

I always liked B.B. more though.

I mean really, you need to listen to the man live. He has so much more flavor. He improvises alot, and his improvisations are always so soulful.

Clapton probably doesn't improvise that much seeing as he has only like 20% of his hearing left.

Totally arguable.

I still think Hendrix was one of the greatest guitarists of any time. Mostly because of how innovative he was on the music scene, and just how much style the guy had.

I don't think there IS any greatest, but he blew the top off of the whole rock n roll scene when he showed up.

So many artists said the same thing when they first heard him, they said they literally considered quitting music altogether. Ranging from the Stones to Clapton to the Who. So many people thought Hendrix was going to be the end of them. Even The Beatles saw Hendrix as a threat to their popularity.

Hes not the best technical guitarist by any means, but I never considered speed and technical precision the pieces to a great guitarist. Yngwie Malmsteen and Steve Vai are hardly people I would listen to on a daily basis.
